People for Palm Springs Parks (PPSP) advocates for the improvement of our parks and recreational facilities. It is our mission to ensure that every resident and visitor has access to safe, vibrant and well-maintained parks that promote community engagement, environmental stewardship, and overall well-being.

Palm Springs is a global tourist destination and it is our view that the public parks should better represent this world class city. We believe it is the responsibility of the City to organize and deploy its resources to support the recreational needs of the community.

Goal One

Monitor Park & Recreations staffing levels to understand, confirm, and advocate for robust maintenance.

Goal Two

Assess park conditions for cleanliness, safety, and maintenance issues. Encourage active participation and community input regarding parks and recs improvements and investments.

Goal Three

Advocate for robust programming and events within the Parks & Rec department.

Advocate for General Fund, Measure J, and funds during the budget process. Provide oversight on all Parks and Recreation expenditures in the City budget.

  1. Examine interdepartmental dependencies for Parks and Recreation (e.g. public works, engineering, public safety, HR, etc) and report on any gaps in this area to senior City leadership

  2. Meet regularly with the City Manager and senior leadership team on Parks and Recreation issues. Create a space to provide and receive feedback on how PPSP can be effective partners.
